A natural gas flue is a system used to safely vent combustion gases produced by natural gas-powered appliances to the outside. It helps protect lives by preventing harmful gases such as carbon monoxide from accumulating indoors and supports the efficient operation of the appliances.
Single-wall flues (SW) are made of a single layer of stainless steel and are generally used in shaft applications. Double-wall flues (DW), on the other hand, feature insulation material between the inner and outer walls, minimizing heat loss and providing greater resistance to external conditions. Double-wall systems offer higher temperature resistance and greater efficiency.
The duration of flue installation varies depending on the building height, flue type, and project complexity. For a standard residential building, single-wall flue installation can take 1–2 days, while double-wall system installation can take 2–4 days. Industrial projects may require more time. An accurate installation time can be determined following a project-specific assessment.
Natural gas flue systems should be inspected at least once a year. For systems in heavy use, an inspection every six months is recommended. During maintenance, the inside of the flue is cleaned, connection points are checked, and the condition of seals and clamps is inspected. Regular maintenance extends the lifespan of the flue system and ensures safe operation.
